Rotary Air Compressors: How Are They Different?

Known as “positive displacement compressors,” rotary air compressors are distinguished by, as the name implies, rotors. Although there are many types of these compressors, the most common rotary air compressors are single stage helical, which is also known as the spiral lobe oil flooded screw compressor. These compressors are essential based on two rotors that are held in a casing. The rotors internally compress the air, and there are no valves. The cooling happens inside the compressor, rather than externally, meaning the inner parts of rotary air compressors aren’t subject to extreme temperatures. This stable temperature means the parts are not put under as much stress, and as a result they may last longer than other types.

One of the main benefits of rotary air compressors is that they are exceptionally simply to operate and to maintain. Offering a smooth, non-pulsing output of air, this type of compressor is quite compact for the volume of air it puts out. If you’re looking for a compressor for your business, Compressed Air Systems can help. As an authorized dealer for Kaeser and Kobelco, which are two of the top brands in the industry, we also offer used and refurbished rotary air compressors for a variety of needs.
